When installed the *.deb, the krb5-user dependency asked for realm information. I didn't know if I needed the NETBIOS name of the domain or its DNS name. I guessed with the DNS name.

There was no link for the gui, so I had to navigate to  /opt/likewise-open/bin and run "sudo ./domainjoin-gui". Left the computer name alone, put in the DNS name, and left OU to default.  When it prompted for credentials, I wasn't sure if I needed "domain/username" or not, so tried both. 

For domain/username, after some HD chugging (with a window saying: Joining domain...), a nautilus window of my home directory would open, and after another moment an error comes up.  Says "Error: Can not join the domain". Try to click on the "Close" button, but won't go away.  Have to click on the "X" in the corner for the error to go away.

For just username, it'd do the same but the error offered a details button:
 Exec() error: STDOUT <today's date/time>
 Failed to join domain: Operations error
 STDERR: Command: /opt/likewise-open/bin/lwinet ads join -U%myadminaccount% osName=Linux osVer=2.6.22-14-generic
 Cause: Return Code: 255
