[Likewise-open-discuss] failure to join domain

Hi, new user here.
I'm on the UC Berkeley campus and am trying to join my fedora 8 box
to the campus AD using the open version.  I have admin rights to an ou.
My acct name is !ieor-admin.
The selinux is in passive mode.

The error is as follows:

Joining AD domain:   campus.berkeley.edu...
Could not connect to server actdir03.campus.berkeley.edu
The username or password was not correct.
Connection failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Failed to verify membership in domain: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE!
FAILED [Error code: 0008000e]

I also tried using the --preview but I get another error:
"The domain name could not be resolved"

Part of the problem, I believe, is that the acct. name has a bang in it,
i.e. !ieor-admin.
I have to escape it or else it complains about "event not found".

Last, I tried it using the  --ou feature but it failed with code [000800e].

I've contacted the Campus AD guy but I wonder if you have any collected
wisdom you might share.
