That's a separate issue. What we need to make sure is whether specifying
DNS domain name allows you to connect a valid domain controller.
On the other hand it's a bit strange domain naming scheme, since you have
domain campus.berkeley.edu, and member hosts with only berkeley.edu suffix.

Two questions:
 - What does ip 128.32.192.74 resolve to ?
 - Do you have smbclient utility around (part of samba, though commonly
   available in samba-common or samba-client packages) ?
