If you have a moderately sized domain (50k users or groups),
and a user is in a large number of groups, you might benefit
from setting in /etc/samba/lwiauthd.conf:
winbind expand groups = 1
if you don't need domain group unrolling of nested group
membership. Try this first and let me know how it goes.
